Question types and when to use them
Seven ways to ask, from a single tap to a written comment.
Yes / No
A clear yes or no, such as "Was this useful?". The fastest question to answer, so it works best as the first one. A Yes / No first question powers the "found it useful" figure.
Rating (1-5 stars)
"How good was it?" in one tap. Results show the average and how the answers spread across the five stars.
Multiple choice
Options you write, from 2 to 12, each up to 100 characters. Tick Readers can select more than one option to allow several answers. Good for "What were you looking for?" or "What could be better?".
NPS (0-10)
The standard Net Promoter Score question: "How likely are you to recommend us?". Results show the NPS score with the split into promoters, passives and detractors.
Percentage and Range (0-100 sliders)
A slider from 0 to 100. Use Percentage for "how much" questions ("How much of this did you understand?") and Range for a scale with your own meaning. Results show the average.
Free text
Readers answer in their own words, up to 1,000 characters. Answers appear as anonymous comments in your results. Email addresses and phone numbers are removed before they are stored.
Tip: Put free text last, after a quick question. Readers who have already tapped once are much more likely to write something.
