Cookie Policy

Last updated October 12, 2026

This policy explains the cookies and similar browser storage Asklet uses. In short: we only use what is strictly necessary to sign you in and to run the widget. We use no advertising, analytics or tracking cookies, so we do not show a consent banner.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies, such as local storage, keep data in your browser in a comparable way. This policy covers both.

2. Cookies on the Asklet website and dashboard

These cookies are first-party, httpOnly (not readable by scripts) and only set when you sign in. They are strictly necessary, so they do not require consent.

NamePurposeDuration
__Host-asklet_sessionKeeps you signed in. Holds an opaque session id; your credentials stay on our servers.30 days, or until you sign out
__Host-asklet_oauth_stateProtects the "Sign in with Google" flow against forged requests.10 minutes
__Host-asklet_return_toRemembers the page to return to after signing in.30 minutes

3. Storage used by the feedback widget

The Asklet widget that customers embed on their websites sets no cookies. After a reader submits a survey, it saves a note in one entry of the browser's local storage, so the same survey is not shown again straight away on that page:

KeyPurposeDuration
asklet:answeredLists the pages where a survey was answered in the last 3 hours, with the survey version. Page addresses are stored only as short codes, not as text. Holds at most 50 notes and contains no personal data. Each note is ignored after 3 hours and deleted the next time the widget loads. The entry is removed when no notes are left.

If your browser blocks storage in embedded frames, the widget still works; you may simply see the survey again.

4. Third-party cookies

When you pay for a subscription, the checkout is provided by Paddle, which may set its own cookies for fraud prevention and to complete your payment. When you choose "Sign in with Google", Google sets cookies on its own domain. Videos on our website, such as the demo, load from the privacy-enhanced YouTube domain (youtube-nocookie.com) only when you press play; from then on YouTube may store data in your browser. These are governed by the privacy and cookie policies of Paddle, Google and YouTube.

5. Managing cookies

You can view and delete cookies and local storage in your browser settings, and block them for all or some sites. If you block the essential cookies above, you will not be able to sign in to the dashboard.

6. Changes to this policy

If we start using any cookie that is not strictly necessary, we will update this policy and ask for your consent before setting it.
