A documentation feedback widget for every docs page

Ask "Did this page answer your question?" on every docs page with one snippet, and see which pages send people to support.

The problem

Docs tools give you search and page views, but no way to hear from the reader on the page. Support tickets show a problem only after someone gave up, and they rarely say which page failed them.

A thumbs-up widget built in-house tends to grow into its own small project: storing votes, filtering spam, building a report and keeping it all running.

How it works with Asklet

  1. 01

Embed once in the docs layout

Paste one iframe into the layout of Docusaurus, MkDocs, VitePress, Mintlify, Next.js, Astro or any docs tool that accepts HTML. Every page gets the widget, including pages you add later.

  2. 02

Use one survey for the whole site

A Yes / No question plus an optional comment, set as the default survey or on a pattern such as /docs/**, covers every page.

  3. 03

Give some sections their own questions

API reference pages can ask "Was this example enough to get it working?", and tutorials "Did you finish the tutorial?".

  4. 04

    Read the answers per page

Results per path show which pages collect the most "No" answers, the comments say why, and themes group pages by product area.

/docs/** example path pattern

Questions to start with

  • Did this page answer your question?
  • What were you trying to do?
  • How easy was this to follow?
  • Was this example enough to get it working?

What you get

  • A list of docs pages to rewrite, ranked by how many readers answered No
  • Comments that name the step or screen that confused readers
  • Anonymous answers, so readers are honest about what confused them
  • No cookies, so no consent banner on your docs

Common questions

What is a documentation feedback widget?

A short question at the end of each docs page, usually "Did this page answer your question?", with an optional comment. The answers show which pages work and which ones need rewriting.

Which docs tools does the widget work with?

Any tool that lets you add a plain iframe to the page layout, including Docusaurus, MkDocs, VitePress, Mintlify, Next.js, Astro, Hugo and Jekyll. Tools that block iframes, such as GitBook, cannot show it.

Can I show the same question on every docs page?

Yes. Assign a default survey to the website and every page without a more specific match gets it, including pages you publish later.

Can I see which docs page an answer came from?

Yes. Every response is stored with its page path, and results are shown per path.

Will the widget slow down my docs?

No. The iframe loads lazily, only when a reader scrolls near it, and it adds no script to your pages.
