How to add Asklet to Shopify

Add Asklet to every Shopify blog post with a Custom Liquid section - no app needed.

Steps

Copy your snippet

In Asklet, open your website and click Copy website snippet at the top.

Open the blog post template

In Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes and click Customize. In the template menu at the top, choose Blog posts.

Add a Custom Liquid section

Add a section below the post content, choose Custom Liquid, paste the snippet and save. Most Online Store 2.0 themes, including Dawn, offer this section.

Check it on your live site

Open a published post on a domain you listed in Asklet and answer the survey. To keep your own test answers out of the results, add the page in Asklet first: new pages start in test mode.

Keep referrerpolicy="unsafe-url" on the iframe - Asklet uses it to know which page the reader is on, so the right survey appears.
Blog posts live at /blogs/<blog>/<post>, so /blogs/news/* covers the News blog and /blogs/** covers every blog.
To ask about products, add the same section to the product template. The path tells Asklet which product each answer is about.

Common questions

Do I need a Shopify app?

No. The snippet is plain HTML in a Custom Liquid section. There is no app to install and nothing is added to your checkout.

My theme has no Custom Liquid section. What now?

Older themes may not offer it. Edit the theme code instead and paste the snippet into the article template, below the article content. Duplicate the theme first so you can roll back.
