A PostHog Surveys alternative without user tracking
PostHog Surveys runs inside PostHog and links each answer to the person who gave it. Asklet is a standalone widget: anonymous answers, grouped by page.
PostHog Surveys is part of PostHog, a set of product tools that includes analytics, session replay and feature flags. Surveys appear through the PostHog SDK and are targeted by URL, events, person properties, cohorts and flags. Each response sits next to that person's events and session replay.
If you already run PostHog, that link is the point: you can watch the session behind a low score. If you don't, adding a product analytics SDK for one question is a lot to take on. Asklet asks the question without tracking anyone. One iframe goes on the page, the page path picks the survey, and each answer is stored with only the path and a timestamp.

Common questions
Do I need PostHog to use Asklet?
No. Asklet is separate and works next to any analytics tool, or none. It doesn't read PostHog data and doesn't send answers to it.
Can Asklet show me the session behind an answer?
No. Asklet doesn't record sessions, and answers aren't linked to a session or a person. If you need that, PostHog Surveys does it inside PostHog. For heatmaps and recordings as a category, see our comparison of behaviour analytics tools.
What is PostHog Surveys?
PostHog Surveys is the survey product inside PostHog. It shows in-product surveys through the PostHog SDK, targets them with PostHog's events, properties, cohorts and flags, and keeps each response next to the person's data. See PostHog's own website for its current features.
What are the alternatives to PostHog Surveys?
Alternatives to PostHog Surveys include Formbricks, Refiner, Sprig and Asklet. Formbricks is open source and can be self-hosted. Refiner focuses on in-app NPS and CSAT for SaaS, and Sprig targets product research at user segments. Asklet asks short, anonymous questions on your pages and groups the answers by path.
Is there a free alternative to PostHog Surveys?
Yes. Asklet has a Free plan for one website, with 2 active surveys of up to 3 questions each and 100 responses a month. Paid plans raise those limits.
Is Asklet GDPR compliant?
Yes. Answers are anonymous: the widget sets no cookies and stores no IP addresses, user agents or identifiers, and emails and phone numbers typed into free-text answers are redacted.
How do I switch from PostHog Surveys to Asklet?
Create a survey from a template or your question bank, add your website and list the domains it runs on, then paste the Asklet snippet on the pages or screens you want to ask about. Keep PostHog for analytics if you use it.
