Make the feedback widget look like your site

This one-minute demo restyles the Asklet widget on a real-looking coffee blog: a new heading, the blog's colours, a serif font and pill corners. Each change shows in the preview as you make it, then on the site after a refresh.

Step by step: customise your feedback widget

  1. 01

    Open the Appearance tab

Open the website in your workspace and go to its Appearance tab. The form sits next to a live preview of the widget, which shows every change before you save it.

  2. 02

    Write your own titles

Replace the standard "Reader feedback" heading with your own words and add a subtitle. In the video the coffee blog asks "How was your brew?" with "Help us write better guides" underneath. Leave a field empty to keep the standard text.

  3. 03

    Use your brand colours

Untick "Use the default colour" and pick the header colour, the header text colour and the button colour. The button colour marks the reader's answers and the Next button, so answer a question in the preview to check it.

  4. 04

    Match your fonts and shapes

Choose sharp, rounded or pill corners, a solid or minimal header, a light or dark background, a font style and the question text size. The video picks pill corners to match the blog's buttons, a serif font to sit with its articles and a progress bar in the button colour.

  5. 05

    Save, then refresh your site

Click Save. The next time a page with the widget loads, it shows the new look. The snippet on your site doesn't change, so there is nothing to paste again.

Everything you can change

The Appearance tab has five groups of settings. They belong to the website, so every page of the site shares them.

Texts
Widget language (English or Portuguese), heading, subtitle, thank-you message, "already answered" message, and the Next, Send and Skip button labels.
Colours
Header colour, header text colour and button colour.
Style
Sharp, rounded or pill corners, a solid or minimal header, and a light or dark background.
Typography
System, serif, rounded or mono font, and small, medium or large question text.
Behaviour
Progress as text, a bar or hidden, and whether readers can skip the questions after the first.

Same snippet, new look

The snippet is a plain iframe that loads the widget from Asklet, settings included. Change the appearance as often as you like: your site's template stays as it is.

  • Changes reach your pages on their next load, with no new snippet and no deploy.
  • Each website has its own appearance, so a second site or brand can look completely different.
  • A page can set its own widget heading in the Pages tab, in place of the website heading.
  • The small "Powered by Asklet" line can be removed on the Pro plan.

Common questions

How do I change the colours of my feedback widget?

Open the website's Appearance tab, untick "Use the default colour" under the header, header text or button colour, and pick your own. The preview updates as you pick, and the site shows the new colours after you save.

Do I need to change the snippet after restyling the widget?

No. The snippet only points at the widget. Its look comes from the settings you save, so the next page load picks them up.

Can I add my own CSS to the widget?

No. The widget runs in an iframe, so your site's CSS doesn't reach inside it. The Appearance tab covers the texts, colours, corners, header, background, font, text size and progress indicator. You can still style the space around the iframe on your own page.

Can I use my own font?

The widget offers four font styles: system, serif, rounded and mono. Pick the one closest to your site.

Is customising the widget included on the Free plan?

Yes. Every plan can change the widget's texts, colours, style and font. Only removing the "Powered by Asklet" line needs the Pro plan.

Is the coffee blog in the video a real site?

No. Kettle & Crema is a demo site made for the video. The Asklet side is the real product, filmed step by step.
