Asklet vs form builders
Tools like Google Forms or Typeform are great for long questionnaires. They were not built to live on every page of your site.
Form builders such as Google Forms, Typeform and Tally are built for standalone forms: sign-ups, applications, event registrations and long research questionnaires. You build a form, then share it by link or embed it on a page.
They get awkward when you want a short question on many pages. Each embed is one form, so asking about 200 articles means either 200 forms or one shared form with a hidden field for the page address. Changing the wording means editing every copy, and the answers arrive as one long list of rows that you sort by page yourself.
Asklet works the other way round. You write a survey once, from a shared question bank, and path patterns such as /blog/* decide which pages show it. Every answer is stored with its page path, so results are already split by article, and percentages only appear once a page has enough responses.
| Form builders | Asklet | |
|---|---|---|
| Built for | Standalone, multi-step forms | Short questions on many pages |
| Different questions per page | One form per embed, managed by hand | Path patterns pick the survey automatically |
| Results per page | Needs hidden fields or exports | Built in |
| Reusing questions | Copy between forms | Shared question bank |
| Small-number honesty | Shows percentages from any sample | Percentages only once there are enough responses |
| Long forms, branching, file uploads | Yes | No - surveys are short by design |
Choose form builders when…
- You need a long form with branching logic or file uploads
- The form is the destination, not part of a page
- You are running a one-off questionnaire you send by link
Choose Asklet when…
- You want the same short survey on dozens or thousands of pages
- You care which page each answer came from
- Editors who don't code need to change the questions
Common questions
Can Asklet replace a long questionnaire?
It isn't designed to. Asklet surveys are short and live on the page: up to 3 questions on the Free plan and up to 10 on Pro. For long, multi-step research forms, a form builder is the better fit.
Can I embed a Google Form or Typeform on every page?
You can, but each embed is one form. To know which page an answer came from, you pass the page address into the form with a hidden or prefilled field, then sort the answers by that field yourself.
How do I see form results per page?
With a form builder, record the page address in a hidden or prefilled field, export the responses and group them by that field in a spreadsheet. Asklet stores the path with every answer and shows results per page in the dashboard.
Is a form builder or a feedback widget better for website feedback?
For a short question about the page someone is on, a feedback widget: it sits inside the page, picks the right survey for each page and groups the answers by page. For a long questionnaire that people open on purpose, a form builder.
